Next Door Noise? Here Are 3 Effective Ways to Handle Your Noisy Neighbors

Neighbors are a mixed bag of people. They can be kind and considerate, rude and obnoxious, and everything in between. If your neighbors are loud and annoying, here are three ways you can take care of the problem:

1. 1. Knock and Talk

   If you don’t have a problem with confrontation, go pay your loud neighbor a visit. Try to remain calm and composed and reach an understanding with them. Getting angry with them will only escalate the situation. You never know, you could end up making a new friend!

2. 2. Put it in writing

   If you don’t want to talk face to face, or don’t have time, write them a letter. As it applies to face-to-face communication, try to be calm, kind, yet assertive. You don’t want to escalate the situation.

3. 3. Notify the building security or management office

   If your apartment for has a security officer, feel free to bring them over your apartment while the noise is occurring, so they fully understand the situation and handle it accordingly. If you don’t have a security officer on the premises, you can contact management to deal with the situation.
